By Peggy Arthur

Hi~
I’m Peggy, an avid reader and author. There are few places that feel as sacred to me as a library. Between the quiet rustle of pages and the scent of old books lies a kind of magic. It is a magic that only readers truly understand. I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, drawn to stories like bees to blooming jasmine. But if reading is a kind of devotion, then writing is the deeper calling. It’s the heartbeat beneath the page, the fire that fuels the story.
What I love most about writing is the way it allows me to step into many roles—within the story itself. I become the investigator, uncovering the past. I become the architect, building the world. I take on the mind of the antagonist, the heart of the heroine, the wisdom of the elders. Wearing many hats lets me dig deep, see from all sides, and bring real depth to the work. It stretches me—emotionally, spiritually, creatively—and that challenge is part of the joy.
I write for many reasons: for clarity, for wonder, for connection. But most of all, I write for my grandmother.
She is the kind of woman who reads every single day—sometimes a paperback, sometimes her Kindle. Our conversations often drift into the books we’ve read. We also talk about the stories we share and the family history carried between them. When I write, I imagine her sitting in her favorite chair. She holds her Kindle in hand. The words take her somewhere new. She is my compass and my audience, my reminder that storytelling isn’t just entertainment—it’s legacy.
Writing keeps me curious. It keeps me reaching. And on the days when it’s hard, I think of the libraries that shaped me. I also think of the grandmother who continues to inspire me. And I keep going.
Because stories matter.
And so does who we tell them for.
